firefly Makes an Appearance at WDCC 2026

(Shanghai, September 26) The main exhibition of the World Design Cities Conference (WDCC) 2026 is being held in Shanghai from September 26 to 30. High-end smart electric compact car firefly partners with the School of Creativity and Art at ShanghaiTech University and the Oslo School of Architecture and Design in the themed exhibition and forums centered on “ritual design,” showcasing the brand’s continued exploration of urban mobility experiences and design innovation.

Organized jointly by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and UNESCO, WDCC has grown into an internationally influential platform for design exchange. During this year’s conference, firefly created a 100-square-meter exhibition area with the theme of “urban mobility, rituals in motion,” featuring “haven,” the first model of the “halo series” as well as the highlights of the workshop of “urban mobility, rituals in motion and ritual design for smart city mobility.” Meanwhile, firefly co-hosted a forum with the organizers under the theme “ritual design quality living forum,” bringing together experts in design to explore “rituals in urban mobility.” Daniel Jin, President of firefly, said, “Starting with a compact car, firefly explores the freedom of urban mobility through the lens of ritual design.”

For firefly, “ritual design” is about bringing a sense of ritual into users’ everyday mobility. Through brand new design of space, lighting, sound, and interaction, firefly turns small, repetitive actions into sensory and emotional experiences. Centering around five key scenarios of Meet&Go, Journey, Pause, Recharge, and Arrival, firefly integrates welcome light, ambient lighting, lumo voice control, battery swap background music, and customizable lock sounds into everyday journeys, transforming routine, functional actions into delightful experiences.

Looking ahead, firefly will continue to draw inspiration from urban mobility, exploring more effortless and thoughtful ways to travel.
